Knee deep in thought becomes head deep in regret, with no shallow end in sight.
Lost within a field of blossomed hate for what one has done.
The heart on his sleeve thumps with emotion demanding to spill; a knot in his stomach has him groaning with pain from which he had created with two little words. Not simple words, but complex words, yet without intentional meaning. Even words you don't mean can mean the whole world to whom it is said to.
It is perfectly shown by her emotions that it meant everything to her.
“It's over!”
Her head rests against the palm of her hand as the same words repeat over and over again, exhaustion over-powering her. Her sobs slowly cease to silent tears, all hope drained from her pale face. Despite not being the one who said it, she only hears the shouts of her conscious telling her to pack her bag and leave; he doesn't need her anyway. Despite the demand, she still remains in the same spot she has been for the past three hours. The same spot they have been in for the past few hours. Both lean against the wooden mahogany table, ignoring the crumb covered plates that lay before them. Deep in thought; little movement.
'This has gone on too long', he confirms to himself. His arm outstretches towards her, yearning for her touch once again. Rejection punches him in the stomach as she moves her arm away; regret stabbing her in the chest. Again, it was unintentional, but it meant everything to him.
“I'm sorry,” She remains frozen, her ears mentally perked as he breaks the silence, “I shouldn't have said that to you.”
Silence. He looks to her with grief in his glazed-over eyes, waiting to hear her voice.
“But you did.” She looks at him for the first time since it all began, making his heart flutter. She never fails to make him melt, despite their situation.
“It didn't mean anything, I promise.” Her chest rises and falls with a sigh, her mind playing on repeat.
“I believe you.” A smile tugs at his lips, the tears that had once prickled the corner of his eyes now overflowing as he pulls her into a lustful kiss; a strong bear hug soon following. Her limbs loosely wrap around him, because after all,

Anywho, this short story was inspired by Bridget and Stanley's performance last night on 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
I even surprised myself by the ending...
